Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 27 August 2026
These terms explain how we work together — from quotation through to completed installation. They apply to all work carried out by J K Hamblin Windows & Doors unless we agree something different with you in writing.
1. About us
J K Hamblin Windows & Doors ("we", "us", "our") supplies and installs windows, doors, glazing, roofline products and related repairs across Wiltshire and Somerset. You can reach us on 07877 858912 or at jason@jkhamblin.co.uk.
2. Quotations
Quotations are free and given without obligation. Unless stated otherwise, a quotation is valid for 30 days and is based on the information, measurements and access available at the time of the survey.
If additional work becomes necessary once work begins — for example hidden damage, rot, or structural issues that could not reasonably be seen beforehand — we will discuss it with you and agree any additional cost before continuing.
3. Orders, deposits and payment
A contract is formed when you accept a quotation in writing (including by email or message) and we confirm the order. Where a deposit is required, it is used to order made-to-measure materials and will be confirmed in writing before you pay.
The balance is due on completion unless we have agreed different payment terms with you in writing. We may charge interest on invoices that remain unpaid beyond the agreed date.
4. Made-to-measure products
Windows, doors and glass units are manufactured to the sizes and specification agreed with you. Once these items are in production they cannot usually be cancelled, altered or returned. Colours, finishes and timber or glass characteristics may vary slightly from samples, brochures or photographs.
5. Access and site conditions
Please make sure we have safe and reasonable access to the working areas on the agreed dates, and that furniture, blinds, curtains, ornaments and vehicles are moved clear where possible. Where scaffolding or specialist access is needed, this will be included in the quotation or arranged separately.
We take care to protect your property and clean up after ourselves, but some minor disturbance to plaster, paintwork, sealant lines or external finishes is normal with glazing and roofline work. Making good decorative finishes is not included unless it is specifically quoted.
6. Timescales
Any dates we give are estimates given in good faith. Lead times can be affected by supplier manufacturing schedules, weather, and factors outside our control. We will keep you informed and agree revised dates with you where necessary.
7. Guarantees
Guarantee periods depend on the product fitted and the manufacturer supplying it, and are confirmed in your quotation or paperwork. Guarantees cover manufacturing and installation faults. They do not cover accidental damage, misuse, neglect, lack of routine maintenance, alterations or repairs carried out by others, or normal wear to moving parts, seals and finishes.
If something is not right, please contact us as soon as possible so we can inspect it and put it right.
8. Building regulations, conservation and listed buildings
Where work affects a property in a conservation area or a listed building, or where planning or listed building consent may be required, it is the property owner's responsibility to obtain the necessary permissions. We are happy to discuss sympathetic options and provide product information to support an application.
9. Your right to cancel
Where you are a consumer and the contract was agreed away from our business premises, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of entering into the contract. If you ask us to start work within that period, you may be charged for the work and materials supplied up to the point of cancellation. Made-to-measure items that are already in production cannot be cancelled once manufacture has begun.
10. Liability
We carry out our work with reasonable skill and care. We are not liable for pre-existing defects, or for loss or damage that was not caused by us. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please contact us at jason@jkhamblin.co.uk or on 07877 858912. We will acknowledge your complaint, look into it and aim to respond within a reasonable time.
12. Website content
The content on this website is provided for general information only and does not form a contract. Photographs show examples of our own completed work. Prices, product ranges and service areas may change. Third-party websites and brochures we link to are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
